Recently, I had the privilege of representing Ed3 DAO at an event that brought together founders from across the web3 space and the Global Advisory Council from Coinbase. This council includes distinguished individuals from various backgrounds, primarily policy-level professionals. Among the attendees were a number of Coinbase leadership team, former and sitting senators and representatives from US Congress, and former members of key security committees and councils such as the NSA and the Department of Defense.
A Convergence of Policy and Innovation
The purpose of the event was to foster networking and connection between web3 founders and high-level policymakers in an effort to give policymakers a clear picture of the amazing work being done on the ground. This collaboration is crucial as we navigate the maturation of decentralized technologies. The discussion focused on the importance of crafting policies that not only protect consumers but also allow the technology to grow and innovate within the United States.
Diverse Applications of Blockchain Technology
Speakers at the event showcased a wide array of blockchain applications beyond the financial sector. At the event we heard from innovators in healthcare, data interoperability, agriculture, and real estate, all utilizing blockchain to enhance transparency, security, and efficiency in their respective fields. Each web3 founder had a unique story, but were all tied together through the common thread of using this novel technology to solve real world problems
Ed3 DAO: Connecting Education with Emerging Technologies
As one of the guest speakers, I had the opportunity to share some of the incredible work that we are doing at Ed3 DAO. Education has historically lagged in technology integration, but Ed3 DAO is dedicated to bridging this gap. We position ourselves as the "last mile" problem solvers, ensuring that cutting-edge technologies are effectively integrated into educational systems.
Our Three-Phase Approach:
Education and Outreach: We've educated over 10,000 educators through events and online courses, partnering with universities globally.
Acceleration: We accelerate important ideas and support the development of innovative products and services.
Research: We are developing products and services that leverage new technologies in meaningful ways, combining expertise in both emerging tech and classroom dynamics.
Moving from Theory to Practice
A highlight of our recent achievements is that were recently awarded a Phase 1 grant through the Learning Landscape Challenge. Our project is to develop a system that supports schools in moving from traditional systems of learner recognition to leveraging digital wallets and blockchain-issued credentials to provide a more holistic view of learner competencies. Traditional report cards and transcripts fail to capture the full spectrum of student understanding. This resonated strongly with the audience, emphasizing the need for better systems of recognition enabled by new technologies.
Some Personal Connections
I had a great time connecting with founders, members of the Coinbase team, and those from Global policy. One thing that often resonates with the people that I meet through any event, but particularly at advocacy events, is that we all have a deep belief that education is one of the critical components of the path forward wether talking about education reform, policy, etc. The majority of folks share the same school ing experience and know that their is a better way. My conversations with Wayne Chang, CEO of Spruce ID, and Chief Legal Officer of Coinbase Paul Grewal underscored the importance innovation in education and how blockchain technology can help provide the foundation to build a better future.
The event reinforced the vast potential of decentralized technologies to transform various industries, including education. At Ed3 DAO, we are committed to making this transformation a reality by connecting schools with the latest technological advancements. The enthusiasm and support from policymakers and innovators alike indicate a promising future for education powered by Web3 technologies.
As we continue to educate and innovate, we look forward to a future where these technologies are seamlessly integrated into educational systems, providing better tools for learning and recognition. The journey from theory to practice is underway, and we are excited to lead the charge.
